Arizona’s hot and dry weather allows mountain bikers to hit the trails year round, particularly in the lower desert areas. By contrast, in many other states there are rainy periods for weeks or months when the trails are wet and responsible bikers leave their mountain bikes in the garage.
However, this also means that riders need to be well-prepared for the intense heat and sun exposure, particularly in the summer months.
If the desert heat gets to be too much, you can escape to higher elevations and forested trails like those in Flagstaff.
