Carbon Wheel Upgrades
For a limited time, and by limited time we mean we have no idea how long this will last, you can upgrade to carbon wheels for free with most mountain bikes. This includes almost every full-priced mountain bike over $4000. We're even putting upgraded wheels on some sale bikes like these Yeti SB160s, which are 19-26% off MSRP.
These upgrade wheelsets retail for up to $2,095 MSRP when purchased separately. On eligible bikes, we’re installing them in place of the stock wheels at no extra charge. Your bike is delivered ready to ride, with the new carbon wheels installed.

Why Carbon Wheels?
Weight
Carbon wheels are generally lighter than alloy. This not only benefits the overall weight of the bike, it also reduces rotational mass. This makes the bike accelerate more quickly, climb with less effort, and feel more playful on the trail.
Vibration Reduction
Carbon wheels transmit less vibrations from the trail to your hands, feet, and saddle. This will reduce fatigue and lead to a more comfortable ride.
Compliance
Not how law abiding they are or aren't, compliance means just the right amount of a tiny bit of flex to adapt to the trail. The modern carbon MTB wheels we have stacked up in our warehouse for you have been engineered with compliance in mind for better traction and ride feel.
Lifetime Warranty
All the carbon wheels we offer include a lifetime warranty even in the event of a crash in the normal course of riding. If you hit that rock a little too hard, never fear, you're covered by the manufacturer.

Berd Hawk30 Carbon
The Berd Hawk30 is the most distinctive wheelset available as an upgrade. The carbon rim is laced with Berd's PolyLight ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) spokes, which are roughly 40%-50% lighter than steel spokes. Better yet, they have a natural damping quality that takes the edge off hits. The ride feel becomes noticeably smoother without sacrificing lateral stiffness.
The 30mm internal width pairs well with modern trail and enduro tire sizes.

Reynolds BlackLabel 329 Expert Carbon
A premium wheelset from Reynolds. Built on the same 29" platform as the TR 329 but with a stiffer, more race-oriented layup, the BL 329 Expert delivers sharper handling response and improved power transfer. The things that matter when you're blasting between boulders or sprinting out of corners.
Accommodates modern high-volume tires without compromise.

Reynolds TR 329 Carbon
A trail-optimized carbon wheelset designed to track confidently through technical terrain and absorb trail chatter. It's a capable, durable, confidence-inspiring wheel you can trust season after season. Reynolds' Strike Shield technology adds an extra layer of impact protection at the rim bed, reducing the risk of pinch flats and rim damage on rocky trails.
Reynolds backs the TR 329 with a Lifetime Warranty and a no-questions-asked Impact Protection Policy.

Race Face Era
The Race Face Era punches well above its price point. A tried-and-true favorite at our shop. It delivers a lively, responsive, confidence-inspiring ride feel that works well for everything from all-day trail riding to aggressive enduro laps.
Tubeless-ready out of the box, it pairs well with a wide range of tire widths and sets up easily.
Despite its accessible pricing, the Era doesn't cut corners on durability. The rims are impact-resistant and the build quality is the high quality you can expect from Race Face. If you're looking to make a meaningful upgrade without overthinking it, the Era Carbon is an easy yes. Lifetime warranty with crash protection.

Race Face Era eMTB Carbon
The Race Face Era eMTB is purpose-built for the demands of full-power electric mountain bikes. Although even if you ride analog, if you keep coming into our shop with smashed rims, we might throw one of these on your bike to try and slow the carnage.
Where a standard carbon wheel might struggle under the sustained torque and added mass of an eMTB drivetrain, the Era eMTB is reinforced with heavier-duty spokes designed to handle the increased stress loads. The result is a wheelset that holds up ride after ride without the spoke tension issues or rim fatigue that can plague lighter builds on motorized bikes.
The Era eMTB retains the same 30mm internal width and tubeless-ready design as the trail-focused regular Era. If you're running a full-power eMTB, this is the wheel that belongs under it.

Does the bike come with 2 wheelsets?
No. This is a wheel upgrade, not an extra wheelset. We build the bike with the upgraded carbon wheels instead of the stock wheels.
How do I know if a bike qualifies?
Eligible bikes will show the carbon wheel upgrade option on the product page. If you can select the option and add it to your cart, it qualifies!
Is this actually free?
Some of the upgrades are discounted vs the wheelset price, so those aren't free. The ones that say free, are free as in, no extra charge vs buying the bike with stock wheels. You still have to pay for the bike.
Will the upgraded wheels be installed before pickup or shipping?
Yes. We install the upgraded wheels when building the bike, before the bike leaves the shop.
Does the upgrade delay my order?
No. We build pretty much all bikes anyway (excluding eg ex-demo bikes and pre-built showroom bikes) and often make small customizations for customers, so swapping the wheelset fits in smoothly with our existing processes.
Can I put wheelset X on bike Y?
Maybe. Contact us before ordering if you want something specific. We’ll tell you what’s possible and what it would cost, if anything.
What about returns?
Returns of bikes with only a predefined wheelset upgrade (listed on this page and/or product page, not a special request) follow the normal return policy. Bikes that have been otherwise customized follow the return policy for custom bikes. Return Policy.
Financing?
Yes, eligible bikes can be financed at the listed bike price with the wheel upgrade included. There's no difference vs financing a stock bike.
