Custom Mountain Bike Builds

After riding bikes, our favorite thing is building bikes. We can’t wait to see the smile on your face when you get your hands on your dream machine!

We can take any existing stock bike we have and customize the components just for you. We can also build you a new bike from the frame up exactly to your specs.

“Quickly and professionally built the bike”

I brought in an Enduro frame in pieces (after a custom paint job) along with many boxes of parts. The team at Airpark quickly and professionally built the bike (supplying a few missing pieces at very reasonable price) and delivered it way ahead of schedule. Their quality, attention to detail and attitude was top notch. No other bike store is needed…just go to Airpark.

“Custom bike build”

Extremely helpful employees that were happy to accommodate all of my very specific requests for a custom bike build. I highly recommend this company.

Customizable components

Virtually every component of a mountain bike can be customized, including the frame, suspension, drivetrain, wheels, brakes, handlebars, stem, saddle, and even the paint and graphics on the frame.

You can keep the frame’s original suspension components, or upgrade front and/or rear suspension.

SRAM GX Eagle Transmission

The drivetrain includes components like the crankset, chainring, cassette, derailleurs, shifters, and chain. With a custom bike you can choose your setup to optimize for gear range, simplicity, weight, or performance.

Race Face Era and Turbine Handlebars

Grips are one of the easiest parts to customize. Pick the perfect grips to get the perfect balance of grip, ergonomic padding, durability, and vibration damping. Great grips help reduce arm pump and keep you riding longer.

Banshee Prime V3.2 GX Custom 2
Stem

Choose from different lengths and angles to optimize steering responsiveness and rider position. You’ll also need to take the clamp diameter into account. Vibration dampening and weight are also factors here.

Saddle

The best saddle is the one you don’t even notice. Super important for comfort!

New OneUp V3 Dropper Post
Accessories

Don’t forget the pedals, dropper seatposts, mudguards, and bottle cages.

FAQs

A custom mountain bike is a bike that’s modified or built for a specific rider’s needs and is unique to that rider. It can either be modified from an existing prebuilt bike model, or built from the frame up. Even custom bikes use components from outside manufacturers. A custom bike (typically) isn’t going to mean designing and machining your own parts, like handlebars or a derailleur. Some custom bikes are built with custom frames, however.

It takes us from several days to multiple weeks to build a bike, depending on the complexity of the build and the availability of components. After we have a plan for the build, we order in the needed components and then build the bike in our shop. If you want a more accurate estimate of the timeline, contact us with your idea or plan for the build. After we know exactly what you’re looking for, we can determine how long the build will take.

We can help you find the right fit at our shop. We’ll take measurements and look at factors such as riding style and body proportions. You can also test how different bikes in our shop feel to get a baseline.

You can use absolutely any brand and model that you want. If we don’t have it available in stock or for ordering, you can obtain the part elsewhere and bring it to us.

Different component brands can be mixed and matched freely as long as the parts are compatible with each other. You can also install parts that go outside of the original frame specs as long as it’s physically possible to install them, such as shocks that are shorter or longer than original spec. We’ll look for solutions to accommodate most customization requests. Note that if you are going outside the frame specs, you shouldn’t expect the original warranty to apply.

Yes, of course! You can always upgrade or modify your bike in the future as long as the new components are compatible with your existing setup.

If you want to purchase a custom bike, it’s just not possible to test ride it before deciding if you want it or not, because we build it specifically for you. However, you’re welcome to rent our demo bikes so you can ride and compare different styles and sizes of bikes. That should help you pin down what exactly you want from your custom bike.

Yes, we have financing available. Contact the store for more details on buy-now, pay-later for custom bikes.

Custom-built bikes generally cost more than pre-built bikes. The exact cost will vary depending on the components chosen.

If you’re looking at getting a custom bike, you probably know the answer to this question! A custom-built bike is a good choice for riders who want a bike that fits perfectly and gives them the best possible performance for their style of riding. Riders who are serious about their cycling and want the best possible riding experience often opt for custom builds. However, if you’re buying your first mountain bike, an off-the-shelf model is probably a better option.

Custom-built bikes require the same maintenance and servicing as any other bike. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning, lubrication, and occasional component replacement, is essential to keep the bike in top condition. You can always bring your bike to us for maintenance.
