  • Can I install a Chris King bottom bracket on this bike?

    No, it could make contact with and damage the rear triangle.

  • Can I mount a chainguide on this bike?

    Yes, it has ISCG-05 tabs for easy mounting. Most chainguides that are made for this standard should work.

  • Can I make this a mullet bike?

    It's not recommended. This bike is made around a 170mm 27.5 fork. A bigger front wheel and longer fork would change the geo. It would slacken the head tube angle, but also raise the BB height, shorten the reach, and slacken the seat tube angle. That would negatively affect the handling. If you really want to have a mullet, use a 150mm travel 29" fork. But you'd still have unbalanced suspension.

  • Can I use a triple clamp fork?

    No. The head tube is made to withstand a long travel fork. But the sides of the toptube and downtube can't withstand the side impacts of a crash when the upper stanchions of a dual crown fork are thumped into the frame. Any damage wouldn't be covered under warranty.

  • Should I get a coil shock or an air shock?

    There's a differentce in feel between the shocks, but neither one is better than the other. The air is more progressive, which gives you a softer setup without bottom-out. You have a smoother but still a more aggressive ride. The air is also lighter and easier to tune. The coil has a more linear feel and less bottom-out resistance. This offers the most mid-stroke support for berms, park riding, or pushing in turns. So if you want a firmer feel, go with coil.

  • What kind of headset does this bike use?

    41mm upper and 52mm lower integrated headset cups.

  • What kind of rear brake mount does this bike use?

    180mm post mount. Your caliper will bolt straight to the mount. You can use 200 or 203 rotors with a 20mm ir 23mm post mount adaptor. You can't run a smaller rotor than the 180.

  • What size fork is this bike made for?

    It was made around a 170mm fork. That's ideal for the balance of the bike. A 180mm fork would work, too. You should use a 37-38mm offset fork on this model.

  • What size seat post does this bike use?

    31.6mm. Santa Cruz recommends the reverb without the connectamajig. That will maximize the amount of seat post insertion.
