For more than a decade, the Rocky Mountain Altitude has been the go-to bike for high-stakes enduro racers. Because of its well-thought-out design and incredible capability. As the sport evolves, so must the bikes that dominate it. Enter the 2024 Altitude – a completely overhauled model with a relaunched LC2R suspension for unparalleled responsiveness and control. It also boasts size-specific tuning and a Penalty Box 2.0 for in-frame storage.
The Altitude was designed in collaboration with Rocky Mountain’s elite enduro team to ensure it could handle the rigors of pro-level competitions. Whether you’re chasing podiums or attacking trails for fun, it’ll exceed your expectations and take your rides to new heights.
Return of the LC2R Suspension Linkage
The most significant change to the Altitude is the reintroduction of Rocky Mountain’s LC2R (Low Center Counter Rotating) suspension. The innovative dual-link design lowers the center of gravity and boosts lateral stiffness over the previous model. It’s tuned to provide a smooth start, steady middle support, and gentle end for a mix of grip, effectiveness, and resistance to harsh impacts. You get size-specific shock tunes and 170mm/160mm travel, just like on the last Altitude.
Updated Geometry for Speed and Stability
Rocky Mountain pushed the geometry into more aggressive territory for the Altitude. Giving it a slacker head tube angle, steeper seat tube angle, and longer chainstays. The Ride-4 adjustment system is back in action, letting you tweak the shape and feel of the bike to perfectly match your riding style and preferences. Every size up from small has a built-in flip chip for an optional mixed wheel set-up. All of that, combined with the LC2R, make this bike a powerhouse in challenging races and on technical trail adventures.
Versatile Frame Features for Every Rider
The new Altitude is available in carbon and alloy frames. Carbon models have Rocky Mountain’s Penalty Box 2.0 in-frame storage system. It’s a neatly integrated compartment for things like tools, spare parts, snacks, and keys. A dedicated space for an Apple AirTag or Tile lets you track down your bike if it’s ever lost or stolen. Other notable features include a BSA threaded bottom bracket, a SRAM Universal Derailleur Hanger, and fully internal cable routing.
A Line-Up That Works With All Budgets
Like every Rocky Mountain bike, the Altitude is available a wide range of builds to work with different budgets. The C99 SRAM sits at the top of the line-up with a SRAM X01 AXS drivetrain, RockShox Flight Attendant suspension, and Race Face ARC Carbon wheels. On the other end is the A30 with a Shimano Deore 12-speed drivetrain and RockShox Zeb R fork. Prices range from $3,999 to $10,999.
